We were at the Canberra Pet Expo on 9 + 10 September
|
Our booth had heaps of photos and breed information on the
walls behind us, a friendly, happy Husky to be patted and one of us there to
answer all questions about the breed, our dogs, and Huskies looking for
homes. Here, Ace of Spades is wearing the "I Need A New Home" coat and is waiting with Mara (wearing the Husky hair knitted beret) for someone special to come along and meet him. Ace went to his new family home that day, is now called Johnny, and has been neutered by his new owners. |
Enclosed yards were provided for the dogs to get away from
their adoring public and rest. Sometimes it didn't work, and children
followed our dogs into the yard. Here Duncan is getting more cuddles, while Rebel and Cricket concentrate of a treat in the background. Yes, we do own a "Snow Dogs" movie poster which makes a great backdrop

August 2006 saw Faith come in to Rescue. She
was wandering for a week around southern Canberra before she was picked up -
and then her owner didn't want her back. We took her in to foster care and discovered that Faith is Monty's niece! Her sire (Ch Sibaska Sekenes Style) is Monty's brother. You can see the family resemblance here - Faith on the left and Monty on the right
Faith quickly found the best family home in Canberra |
Mara's nephew, Francis Mikula-Quilty was confirmed on
18 August. Mara was his sponsor for the ceremony.

The first 3 months of the year were so hot and so busy. There was
not much time to update this page. We went to enough shows in the

Champion Arigh O Maolagain ET.

March 2006 saw the mine rehabilitation work begin on the former Lake George Mines site on and adjacent to our property. I started a Blog to document the work in progress. It turned into a historical record by the time I finished.
Browse through it here (many pictures)
This picture shows how close the excavator bucket was to the fences - not that these dogs were concerned about their noisy mechanical neighbour |
