The worst day of the year was the day you died

24 November 2006

absolutely irreplaceable

Duncan  - still doing Christmas - and enjoying it

Stoli - one of our long term guests  -  received a Christmas toy from his owners

A new toy is such fun to play with!

Max (here for 15 months) went home when Melissa Roper returned from her time in the Netherlands.  Here he is enjoying the Gold Coast beaches with Melissa in November

Zeik went home when David and Joanne O'Leary returned from their 2 years in China.  Zeik got to know Jenson - the newest family member when he went back to Sydney.

We were at the Canberra Pet Expo on 9 + 10 September

Our booth had heaps of photos and breed information on the walls behind us, a friendly, happy Husky to be patted and one of us there to answer all questions about the breed, our dogs, and Huskies looking for homes.

Here, Ace of Spades is wearing the "I Need A New Home" coat and is waiting with Mara (wearing the Husky hair knitted beret) for someone special to come along and meet him.

Ace went to his new family home that day, is now called Johnny, and has been neutered by his new owners.

Enclosed yards were provided for the dogs to get away from their adoring public and rest.  Sometimes it didn't work, and children followed our dogs into the yard.

Here Duncan is getting more cuddles, while Rebel and Cricket concentrate of a treat in the background.

Yes, we do own a "Snow Dogs" movie poster which makes a great backdrop

Monty

This lovely dog came here in May to stay for a while and go to shows with us.

Sibaska Sekenes Scandal

a full brother to Sassy and Kandy who spent their youth with us (1999 + 2000)

Monty gained his Endurance Test title on 25 June and won Best Exhibit in Group at Nowra on 12 August

(this picture was taken at the Nowra Show)

August 2006 saw Faith come in to Rescue.  She was wandering for a week around southern Canberra before she was picked up - and then her owner didn't want her back.

We took her in to foster care and discovered that Faith is Monty's niece! Her sire (Ch Sibaska Sekenes Style) is Monty's brother.

You can see the family resemblance here  -  Faith on the left and Monty on the right

Faith quickly found the best family home in Canberra

Mara's nephew, Francis Mikula-Quilty was confirmed  on 18 August.

Mara was his sponsor for the ceremony.

Another first for Arthur        -         The first of our dogs to gain the title of

Canine Good Citizen

with the group who graduated at the same time  -  all of us enjoyed ourselves  -  dogs included

-

In Adelaide for an Easter holiday we kept house for Lorraine Harris and Brian Parker while they went off to Shows.  We enjoyed ourselves so much looking after 8 little pups - from 2 litters - all needing to be hand fed.

Batman loved playing "Uncle" to all those Boxers and Siberian babies

Richard's niece, Rachel McCard, married Adam on Easter Saturday - the real reason we went to Adelaide at Easter this year

The first 3 months of the year were so hot and so busy.  There was not much time to update this page.  We went to enough shows in the region to get Championship titles on three of the dogs, with a highlight being the Runner Up to Best in Show win by our Irish Setter  -  Champion Arigh O Maolagain ET

We showed the dogs through March  -  and had a great month

March 2006 saw the mine rehabilitation work begin on the former Lake George Mines site on and adjacent to our property.  I started a Blog to document the work in progress.  It turned into a historical record by the time I finished.

Browse through it here (many pictures)

This picture shows how close the excavator bucket was to the fences  -  not that these dogs were concerned about their noisy mechanical neighbour

The first show we went to this year was on 21 January.

This was at Dapto A&H Society

It was also Rebel's first show.

(Tarshona High Voltage)

She came home with

the long term boarders who celebrated New Years Day 2006 with us  -  Zeik, Stolli and Max  -  all of them loveable sweet boys.
