2013  -    some highlights

Our (extra) special dogs of 2013

Jingles  ~   Shadow  ~   River   ~  Stanley

In the first week of January, intense hot summer weather conditions caused bush fires to flare around the country, resulting in widespread but random damage. Many picturesque parts of Tasmania - which we had spent time at only 2 months ago  -  were burned out.

We escaped unscathed, but January 8th showed this "catastrophic" warning:

2 new Champions!

at the first Show of the year in Canberra

We introduce:

Champion Mikulov Want More Bling

owned and loved by Steve and Rosemarie Curtotti

Champion Mikulov Cool Montie

best friend of Olivia Brunton

In January we welcomed Gary

Sibertac Somebody Told Me

This happy red dog is a joy to have here and to share with his breeders.  Once his coat grows through we will have Gary out and about the local Show rings.

One magic week in February saw our dogs shine at the Sapphire Coast Kennel & Obedience Club

Good Luck Patrick  -  your special Huskies Denver and Nova will be waiting for your return!

At the end of April, Juno and Ziggy continued their journey home to Brisbane  -  half a continent away from New Zealand  -  their starting point 13 months ago.  Juno and Ziggy stayed here with us while their family built a house with good high fences  -  they are now all together again - and loving it!

danced to the song:  Any Dream Will Do from Joseph and the Technicolour Dream Coat
(hence "Joseph's"  coat)

The Cootamundra ABKC Shows on 11 + 12 May always put on lunch time classes - with a twist.  In the Multi Titled class (for dogs with more than 1 title) our stars were

1st Place  -  Stanley               2nd Place   -  River

with Stanley winning the lovely rosette for "Dog with the most titles"

The "Showcase your dog's talents" class saw us perform an impromptu Dance routine

1st Place  -  River

On 11 May a film crew used the derelict mine ruins behind our house as a backdrop for a music video  - SPECTACULAR

This is a link to the video clip of the song -

Full moon rising  -  26 May  -  a great vantage point on our drive home

On June 10  -  we danced in 2 competitions in Sydney  -  with these fantastic results!

Shadow did Heelwork to Music at Novice level to the song "Any Dream Will Do" from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat

He won the class twice - giving him 3 Passes  in 3 consecutive competitions and his Novice title with 2 x 1st Place and 1 x 3rd Place

A panel of 3 Judges assessed and scored each routine independently and the marks were totalled across all 3.

So the winner needed to have been good enough and impressive enough to get top marks from 3 different Judges

I always knew that if I could stop Jingles from exiting the ring at speed during his "Jingle Bell Rocks" routine, he would Pass.  And he did!  Once on that day he worked with me for his first qualification at Dances With Dogs Freestyle Starters level.

This picture was taken at lunch time rehearsal so neither of us is fully outfitted in costumes!

Whale watching  -  a once in a lifetime experience for us

at Merimbula,  NSW  on 29 October

We saw 26 different Humpback whales - and they breached repeatedly for over an hour - all this while they were slowly heading south to the Antarctic for summer feeding
